Following the identification of a cyclist who met his end after a vehicle struck him while riding at an intersection in Porterville, California, a bicycle accident attorney may be required. The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday, May 6, disclosed the deceased man’s identity as Jayden Arias, 15, of Porterville.

The California Highway Patrol reports confirmed that the bicycle and the vehicle collided in the area of Olive Avenue and Westwood Street on Tuesday, May 5. The preliminary reports showed that the hit-and-run crash, which claimed the teenager’s life occurred at the intersection of Olive Avenue and Westwood Street.

The fatal victim was riding his bike across the intersection when a dark-colored sedan struck him. Emergency responders discovered the boy unresponsive on the roadway and rushed him to an area hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The motorist fled the scene immediately without trying to assist the struck victim. However, officers found the hit-and-run driver a short while later, after locating his abandoned vehicle in the 1700-block of West Olive.

The motorist, identified as 23-year-old Harvey Jacobo, of Potterville, was hiding out in an apartment in the 500-block of South Milo Street when officers apprehended him. Police said he was under the influence of alcohol at the time.
