The identity of a 25-year-old man who was killed last week in a traffic collision involving two vehicles in Gustine, California, has been released. The Merced County Coroner’s Office on Monday, April 27, identified the victim as Jesus Hernandez of San Jose. The reports, however, did not indicate whether a car accident lawyer was representing any of the victims.
The tragic occurrence took place on the evening of Wednesday, April 22. At about 4:25 pm on the said day, the California Highway Patrol was alerted of a traffic wreck on Highway 33, near Sullivan Road. Responding officers found the scene as described, with at least two casualties resulting from the encounter.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a 1996 Acura Integra driven by Lisa Chavez, 23, of San Jose, was traveling north on Highway 33. At the same time, a 2017 Nissan Sentra, driven by Luis Cruz of Santa Nella, was traveling on Sullivan Road.
Just as the Acura attempted a left turn onto Sullivan, it crashed into the Nissan. The impact of the collision caused severe damages to both vehicles. A passenger, riding in the right front passenger seat of the Acura suffered fatal injuries in the wreck and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics.
The operator of the vehicle Jesus Hernandez was riding in complained of major pain in parts of her body. She was transported to Los Banos Memorial Hospital by ambulance for treatment. Cruz emerged from the tragic encounter unharmed. The incident remains under investigation.
Anyone involved in a car accident is advised to seek legal counsel from a car accident lawyer as soon as possible.
