The California Highway Patrol arrested a DUI driver after a fatal accident in Prunedale, California, on Saturday night. Joel Gonzalez-Garcia, a 21-year-old Watsonville resident, would need representation from a drunk driving attorney.
The accident happened shortly after 10 p.m. on San Miguel Canyon Road near Mark Ryan Estate. The CHP report disclosed that Gonzalez-Garcia drove a Chevy truck when he crossed the double yellow lines into an oncoming Nissan path.
The two cars collided head-on, and the impact killed the driver and passenger of the Nissan. The Chevy driver and four passengers between the ages of 19-24 sustained moderate to severe injuries. Medics conveyed them to Natividad Medical Center for treatment.
The highway patrol arrested Gonzalez-Garcia on suspicion of driving under the influence. There is no additional information, and the investigation is ongoing.
