A car accident report update released on Tuesday, July 28th, named Krystal Kazmark, 25, as the woman killed in a two-vehicle collision. The incident happened in the Mammoth Lakes area of California on Saturday, July 25th.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the events leading to the woman’s death began at about 9 p.m. on Benton Road Crossing, just west of Pit Road. A male driver, Joshua Daugherty, 30, of Mammoth Lakes, drove a Toyota Tacoma Crew Cab on Benton at the speed limit.
The investigators said that the driver suddenly started making a series of turning movements that caused him to lose control of his car. The Toyota rotated, skidded across the eastbound lane, and struck the passenger side of an oncoming Kia Sorento.
The impact of the collision left Kazmark, who traveled as a passenger in the Toyota, with severe injuries, and she succumbed to them at the scene. Daugherty and another unidentified passenger suffered severe wounds and received treatment at Mammoth Hospital.
The 71-year-old man of Hawthorne driving the Kia and his passenger also sustained significant wounds. The collision also injured a juvenile in the second car, and the medics conveyed all three to the same hospital as the Toyota driver. There are no further details about the occurrence at this time, and the investigation remains active.
Car crashes occur for otherwise avoidable reasons, and drivers have a vital role to play to avoid the fatal consequences that result from it. Motorists achieve this by practicing safe road habits and obeying traffic rules and regulations.
