On Tuesday afternoon, February 11th, 18-year-old Lorenzo Perez, lost his life in a fiery car crash. The accident, which took place near Stockton, California, also took the life of his friend, Vedo, and left one other person who was in the vehicle in critical condition.
Perez and his two friends have known each other since childhood, and attend the same high school in Bear Creek. The teenagers were on their way to run an errand for a friend when the wreck happened.
Perez was driving the car when he suddenly lost control and crashed into a tree. According to the California Highway Patrol, the late teen tried to pass traffic when he lost control and crashed into a wooden fence.
The car immediately caught fire, and efforts by witnesses to help proved abortive as the flames intensified. They were only able to get the teenager at the back out, and the driver and Vedo burned to death.
CHP said Perez did not have a driver’s license on him, but his mother, Jackie, insists he was driving his car. CHP is still investigating what led the deceased to lose control of the vehicle.
