On Tuesday, August 25th, a Los Angeles County Superior Court, California, sentenced Daniel Joseph Silva to 365 days (1 year) in county jail, 250 hours in community service, and five years probation for an accident that killed Corey La Barrie on his 25th birthday in May.

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Judge Joseph Brandolino suspended the 4-year state prison term the tattoo artist could face if he violates his probation. Silva pleaded no contest to a felony charge of gross vehicular manslaughter on Tuesday, July 14th.

The man initially faced a murder charge. He has been in custody following his rearrest on Monday, May 18th, by the Los Angeles Police Department Valley Traffic Division, and received credit for the 216 days he has served toward his one-year jail time.

The LAPD said that the incident that led to Silva’s incarceration happened on Sunday, May 10th. Facts from the accident report placed the man behind the wheel of a 2020 McLaren 600LT at high speed traveling eastbound on Huston Street.

He lost control of the car, and it ran off the road before striking a tree and stop sign on the northeast corner of Huston and Carpenter Avenue in Valley Village. La Barrie, a YouTube personality, was a passenger in the McLaren, and he died that day while receiving treatment at the hospital.

The police arrested Silva after he received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. They released him on Tuesday, May 12th, before the rearrest the following Monday.
