A man left in critical condition after his motorcycle collided with a big rig in Inyo County, California, would require the services of a motorcycle accident attorney. The California Highway patrol on Sunday, June 14, named the victim as James Bennett, a resident of Oxnard.
The CHP records show the traffic collision occurred at about 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, on Highway 395. CHP officials confirmed that at least one person ended up hospitalized as a result of the accident, which involved a semi-tractor-trailer.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle on the #1 lane of northbound 395. At the same time, the 18-wheeler was traveling southbound on the highway before pulling to the right shoulder upon approaching Dusty Lane. The driver of the big rig, identified as Justin Verzani of Ponca, in Nebraska, suddenly attempted a U-turn across the northbound lanes.
CHP officials said the rider applied his brakes and swerved to avoid a collision, but was unable to complete the maneuver in time. As a result, Bennett collided with the semi and ended up on the roadway beside his wrecked motorbike.
Medical personnel transported the injured motorcyclist to Southern Inyo Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. No information about Verzani’s condition is available at this time.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating to determine the cause of the traffic collision.
Anyone involved in a motorcycle crash can hire a motorcycle accident attorney to pursue a lawsuit and secure compensation for damages.
