Merced Police Arrests Jesse Delarosa Following DUI Incident in Merced

20-year-old Jesse Delarosa would need the help of a drunk driving attorney following his arrest by the police in Merced, California, on Sunday, June 7th. The Merced Police Department officers took the suspect into custody on suspicion of DUI and possession of an unregistered handgun.

The police report showed that officers noticed a car traveling over 60 mph and swerving on West 16th Street at about 1:46 a.m. The lawmen pulled the vehicle over and smelt a strong alcohol odor as they spoke with Delarosa.

The MPD officers made the driver take a field breathalyzer test, which showed that his blood alcohol concentration was more than twice the legal limit to operate a motor vehicle. A search of Delarosa’s car uncovered the handgun, leading to his arrest.

The suspect is also facing a charge of carrying a firearm in a motor vehicle. The Merced Police asked anyone with information about the suspect to contact the station on the listed line.

Under the laws of California, a driver should have less than .08% BAC level when driving. A person with that percentage or above is guilty of a traffic offense. A first-time offender would pay nearly $2000 in fines and assessments, 48 hours in jail, several months of license suspension, and a three-month alcohol education program.

A person who commits several DUI offenses within ten years might get sentenced to up to 16-month imprisonment in state prison, pay about $18, 000 fine and assessments, and enter a 30-month alcohol treatment program.

Anyone involved in DUI-related crashes should hire a drunk driving attorney for legal advice and representation.
