CHP Arrests Paul Lissona for Escondido Hit-and-Run Accident


The California Highway Patrol in the early hours of Sunday, June 7th, found and arrested a suspected hit-and-run driver. Paul Lissona, 29, struck and killed a 17-year-old teenager on a roadway in Escondido, California. He would need a car accident attorney.

The collision caused by the suspect occurred on Saturday morning, June 6th, at about 12:30 a.m. the crash report placed Lissona behind the wheel of a white Toyota Highlander traveling at top speed on Mesa Rock Road. At the same time, the victim and her friends were standing outside a parked vehicle on the right shoulder of the road.

As the teenage girl and her companions crossed the roadway from east to west, the speeding motorists struck her. The victim’s friends and residents of the area tried to save her life, but she succumbed to her injuries. The CHP will release the teen’s identity after informing her relatives.

Lissona fled the scene without stopping to offer help to the girl. The investigators began a search for him and the Highlander, which they described as a pearl white 2008 to 2012 SUV. It had damage to its right-front headlight and right-front mirror.

At about 2 a.m., Sunday, officers, relying on a tip, found the car and arrested the suspect on suspicion of felony hit-and-run. The collision remains under investigation, and anyone with information should contact the CHP on their listed line.
