A traffic-stop saturation patrol by the Paso Robles Police Department on Friday, February 21st, led to the arrest of Michael Lee Jauregui, 44. The latter was suspected of driving under the influence, which led to a parked car accident in Paso Robles, California.

In a statement released by the police, Jauregui crashed his car into a non-mobile vehicle leading to his passenger suffering injuries. The name of the passenger has not been released but was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Jauregui, on the other hand, was unscathed, and the police asked him to take a breathalyzer test at the scene of the accident. The analysis revealed that the driver’s BAC was twice above the prescribed .08 percent.

The driver was arrested at the scene and got charged with felony DUI causing bodily harm. He got booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on the morning of Saturday, February 22nd.

Jauregui got a bail hearing and had his bail set at $100 000. He is also facing additional charges from the DUI, and if found guilty, would get sentenced to a short time in jail, pay a fine, and have his driving privileges suspended.

The PRPD often conducts traffic-stop saturation to catch and take impaired drivers off the road. The exercise helps to prevent DUI accidents and save lives.

Other local law enforcement agencies adopt the TSS and assign officers to carry out the exercise. They target locations prone to accidents and get their funding from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
