Officers from the Riverside County Sheriff’s office responded to the incident at about 5 p.m., on a report of a tragic crash near a road intersection. Fire department personnel assisted in the rescue operation. Police said it happened at Calle Contendo and Madera De Playa and left no fewer than five casualties in its wake.

When the emergency rescue crew arrived, they found two of the victims trapped in the wreckage, with serious injuries. Investigators did not immediately establish the circumstances leading to the crash.

Firefighters applied several rescue equipment to extricate the trapped victims. One of them was down with major injuries, while the other suffered moderate injuries. Paramedics transported the two people to Inland Valley Medical Center, Wildomar. Sadly, one of them later died while receiving treatment.
