A crash in the suburban Chicago area left one woman injured after driving the wrong way down Interstate 80.

27-year-old Breanna Simmons was driving east in westbound lanes at approximately 3:10 a.m. on Sunday morning. Her vehicle, a 2003 Ford Focus, collided with a semi truck near Ridge Road in Minooka.

Although the truck driver was uninjured, Simmons was transported in critical condition to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downer’s Grove.

Following the accident, certain lanes of Interstate 80 were closed, but had been reopened by 7:00 a.m.

Simmons, a native of University Park, has been charged with DUI and improper lane usage, although the crash remains under investigation.
