Car Salesman Warren Smale Killed During Corvette Test Drive By Intoxicated Customer


A test drive turned deadly on Tuesday, when an CarMax salesman Warren Smale, 43, of Montclair, was killed during a test drive when a prospective buyer crashed the Corvette they were driving into a tree.

Alex Demetro entered the Ontario location, looking to test drive a Corvette. Unbeknownst to the CarMax staff, Demetro was under the influence of drugs. After driving an an unusually high rate of speed, Demetro wrapped the sports car around a tree — killing Smale on impact. Witnesses estimated the Corvette was traveling upwards of 70 mph at the time of the crash.

Police are charging Demetro with vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence.
