Motorist Detained for Alleged DUI Crash in Paradise Identified As James Ramsdell

The Paradise Police Department has disclosed the identity of an alleged DUI driver arrested last week following a two-vehicle collision on Clark Road that left a motorist injured in Paradise, California. Authorities on Sunday, March 29, named the victim as James Ramsdell, 59.

The collision took place on Monday, March 16, as confirmed by Paradise officers. According to police reports, officers were dispatched to the scene of the crash, just north of Pearson Road, shortly after it was called in at about 5:27 pm.

The responding officers found two vehicles, a Chevy van and a truck, both displaced from the roadway upon their arrival.

Investigators gathered that James was traveling through Clark road in a red Chevy van when he rear-ended a white Ram Truck moving through the same route.

The driver of the truck, whose name was not immediately disclosed, suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision and was treated on the scene by responding medics upon complaints of pains. No other information about the wounded motorist was released.

The offending driver escaped the traffic mishap unscathed. The uninjured man failed field sobriety tests, confirming he was driving under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or both at the time of the crash.

James, a resident of Paradise, was arrested on charges of felony DUI causing injury and has since been held at the Butte County Jail. His terms of bail were not disclosed in the report.

The incident remains under investigation by the Paradise Police Department.
