Nicholas Darrow Injured in Amador DUI Crash

A 23-year-old man sustained injuries in a car accident on Saturday, September 5th, in California’s Amador area. The car accident report revealed that Nicholas Darrow, of Plymouth, was a passenger in the vehicle involved in the occurrence.

The collision happened on Latrobe Road, near Lorentz Road, at about 2:20 a.m. The vehicle’s unidentified male driver traveled south on Latrobe and allowed his Ford F-250 to drift into the opposite lanes.

When first responders arrived at the scene, they saw the vehicle smashed against a barbed wire fence and a large oak tree. Medics rendered aid to the severely injured Darrow, and a medical helicopter conveyed him to Sutter Roseville for treatment.

The Amador Police Department determined that the driver was impaired at the time of the crash and arrested him for felony DUI. The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and there’s currently no additional information.

Several factors cause traffic accidents, and one of them is driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. It is a criminal offense under the California Vehicle Code to operate a motor vehicle or any other automobile while intoxicated.

Drivers must ensure at all times that they have less than .08% blood alcohol content. Those who drive commercial vehicles or school buses must have below .04% BAC, and persons under 21 must have less than .01% BAC. If impaired, seek alternative means of transportation as alcohol affects a person’s cognitive and mental state.
