One man is dead, and another has been hospitalized for treatment following a collision of their two trucks on Interstate 55, Wednesday.
The accident happened about 2:45 p.m when a semi-truck collided with a Mack truck near the Veterans Parkway exit, on Interstate 55 north of Normal.
According to McLean County Coroner, Kathy Davis, the driver of the semi-truck has been identified as 24-year-old James B. Kwak of Burbank, Illinois. Kwak was pronounced dead shortly after 3pm, succumbing to blunt force chest trauma due to the accident. Toxicology results are pending. The driver of the Mack truck was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Further information about the condition of the Mack truck driver was not immediately available. This accident remains under investigation by the McLean County Coroner’s Office and the Illinois State Police.
