Officer Marcus Bernard Faulted in Chain-Reaction Crash in Orange County

A series of motorists may try to pursue a lawsuit against an on-duty police officer who started a chain reaction crash at a road intersection in Orange, Texas. The incident, which calls for the involvement of top accident lawyers in the state, occurred on the morning of Thursday, April 30.

The report confirmed that at least four vehicles were involved in the traffic wreck that began at about 9:30 am.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the officer, identified as Officer Marcus Bernard, was eastbound on MacArthur Drive in a 2020 Chevrolet patrol cruiser. The vehicle was reportedly traveling at an uncontrolled speed as it approached the road’s intersection with 16th Street.

Just as it entered the intersection, the patrol vehicle crashed into a car stopped at a red light, which in turn crashed into other vehicles in front of it.

Police said the crash affected a 2018 Chevrolet passenger vehicle driven by Jeremy Arrellano, 28, of Mission, a 2017 Hyundai passenger vehicle, driven by Kala Huffman, 25, of Bridge City, and a 2003 Toyota Prius driven by Terry Guin, 58, of Orange.

The involved parties underwent on-site medical check-up by paramedics but declined to be transported to health facilities. No one was seriously injured

The reports did not disclose whether any of the motorists have indicated an intention to press charges at this time. However, should the need arise, a top accident lawyer would have to be contacted due to the delicate nature of the case involving a law enforcement agent.
