Palm Springs Tour Bus Accident
A major tour bus accident on Interstate 10 Freeway near Palm Springs early this morning left over 30 people injured and at least 11 killed.
The tour bus, is owned and operated by USA Holiday Bus based out of Los Angeles.
The tour bus collided into the rear of the semi-truck resulting in serious damage.
What Caused the Crash?
It is too early to conclude the cause of this crash. Given the serious nature of the crash, the National Transportation Safety Board and CHP Mait teams will conduct lengthy investigations.
At this time, it is clear that the tour bus slammed into the rear portion of the semi-truck at a high rate of speed.
It wont be clear if there was a mechanical failure, driver negligence or any other contributing factor until an investigation is complete.
What We Know So Far
The crash occurred at around 5:00am early Sunday morning between Whitewater and North Palm Springs. It has been reported that the tour bus was leaving Red Earth Casino in Thermal, CA and was on its return.
Hours after the crash, I-10 was still shut down pending investigation by the CHP and NTSB which are on scene.
