The Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash at about 11:20 p.m. on reports of a traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a car. It happened in the area of 35th Street East and Avenue S.
Preliminary investigations showed that a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle, driven by 21-year-old Tyrece Alires, of Palmdale, was traveling westbound on Avenue S. At the same time, a Chevrolet Malibu was southbound on 35th, towards the road’s intersection. The motorist reportedly entered the intersection on a red light, causing him to collide with the motorcycle, which had the right of way.
Alires sustained fatal injuries in the collision, and Los Angeles County Fire Department operatives pronounced him dead at the scene. Deputies determined that the driver of the Chevrolet was under the influence of alcohol when the accident happened. Toxicology tests also revealed blood-alcohol levels above the legal limit. They took the unidentified motorist into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol resulting in bodily injury or death.
The incident remains under investigation by LAPD.
