A drunk driving attorney would be useful following the arrest of a motorist who allegedly killed four passengers while driving under the influence in San Jose, California. Authorities recorded the incident on Wednesday night, May 13.
Officers responded to the crash just after 10:20 p.m. on reports of a solo rollover crash on Highway 85, just south of Cottle Road. Responding officers found the scene as described, with at least six resulting casualties.
The vehicle involved was a 2005 Dodge Durango, driven by Rabbi Kumar Khanna, 26, of San Jose. The Dodge was traveling through the south traffic lanes of 85 at a high rate of speed, conveying six occupants. Just as the vehicle neared Cottle Road, Khanna lost control of his car, causing it to flip over multiple times before coming to rest on its wheels.
Four male passengers and a woman were present in the Dodge at the time of the crash. Three of the male victims died at the scene of the traffic collision, while a fourth got transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The female passenger sustained major injuries, and medics transported her to a trauma center, where she later passed away.
A CHP spokesperson, Officer Mike Sakamoto, said two of the victims ended up outside the car after the vehicle ejected them. Investigators did not immediately establish if the victims were wearing a seatbelt at the time.
Authorities believe either drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident, which remains under investigation.
Deputies detained Khanna on DUI suspicions. He is likely also to face charges of vehicular manslaughter. Therefore, time is of essence should the suspect choose to hire a drunk driving attorney as a legal representative.
