The Riverside County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died in the two-vehicle crash on Highway 74. He is a 22-year-old male, Raul Hernandez, from Winchester.
Hernandez died after his motorcycle crashed with a passenger van on the afternoon of Sunday, February 23rd, at about 3 p.m. It happened in the 27000-block of State Highway 74, according to the Perris Sheriff Station.
Based on their investigation, the deceased was heading west on his motorcycle on State Route 74 when the driver of the van crashed into him. The van suddenly turned left in front of Hernandez from 3rd St. onto the highway.
The deceased was unable to move out of the van’s way in time and ended up getting crushed. The extent of his injuries was severe, and by the time first responders got to the scene, there was nothing they could do for him.
Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene and taken to the coroner’s office. The road was closed off for several hours as the authorities investigated the cause of the accident.
The police have not shared information on the identity of the van driver, or whether or not he or she got injured. They have also not stated if the driver was impaired in any way, or driving under the influence,
The police are still investigating, and at the time of this report, they have not charged the driver of the van. But if he or she gets cited, the driver faces prosecution for vehicular manslaughter, and jail time.
