A pedestrian died in an accident in Lancaster, 45 miles from Los Angeles, California, after she got hit by a car. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday, March 3rd, confirmed her identity as Raylene Martinez, 33.

Martinez passed away from the injuries she sustained in a traffic collision along 10th Street West, on Friday, February 28th. The fatal accident occurred at about 7:15 p.m. in the 43600-block of 10th Street West.

In a statement released by the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station, the deceased and an unnamed man were crossing the street in the two-way left-turn lane. At the same time, a pickup truck was driving into the roadway to access a local business.

The truck ended up hitting Martinez and the male pedestrian, and she fell into the traffic lane heading north. As soon as the deceased hit the ground, an oncoming vehicle ran her over.

The second hit caused life-threatening injuries, which the woman later died from at the hospital. The man she was with was also taken to the hospital, but the extent of his injuries was not disclosed.

The investigation is ongoing, and the police have not made any arrests. The LSS has asked anyone with helpful information to contact their office through its listed telephone line.

Some common injuries pedestrians sustain in an accident  include traumatic brain injury (TBI), severe wounds, broken bones, and fractures. Others are lacerations, spinal injuries, and nerve damage, and damage to internal organs.
