A car accident report from the Jurupa Valley area of California, tells of a hit-and-run auto-pedestrian collision that ended a man’s life on Saturday, May 23rd. The authorities identified the deceased as Robert Ibrahim, 41, of Temecula.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office in a press release said that the accident occurred at about 8:26 p.m. on the 1300-block of Rubidoux Boulevard. An eyewitness told the investigators that a southbound dark-colored sedan traveling at top speed struck Ibrahim, and the driver fled the scene without checking to see if the pedestrian sustained injuries.
When first responders arrived, they found the deceased with severe injuries lying on the dirt shoulder of the west side of Rubidoux. Ibrahim succumbed to his injuries before the paramedics could transport him to the hospital.
The investigators said that the sedan possibly sustained damage to its side-view mirror and front passenger side. Anyone with information about the driver of the vehicle should contact the sheriff’s office on the listed line. The investigation remains active.
A hit-and-run accident is a severe offense under the California Vehicle Code. Based on the investigators’ findings, the prosecutors bring a misdemeanor or a felony charge against the offender. When a person dies, they include a vehicular manslaughter charge.
The latter carries a four to a ten-year jail sentence and a fine, depending on the circumstances of each case. Traffic officials advise drivers to remain at the scene of an auto-pedestrian collision and report the car accident immediately to avoid adverse legal consequences.
