An armed man suspected to have been driving under the influence of alcohol crashed a reportedly stolen vehicle into a home in Mill Valley, California. The tragic collision that took place on Monday, April 27, would require the legal expertise of a drunk driving attorney.
According to reports by the Mill Valley police, the incident happened at about 10:30 pm after officers spotted a truck which was reported stolen earlier, driving into the San Francisco area.
Officers of the California Highway Patrol stealthily trailed the Ford F350 truck into San Francisco without activating the sirens or blue lights on their cruisers.
The alleged car thief traveled through the north lanes of Interstate 280, towards 19th Avenue, then went over the Golden Gate Bridge, before joining Mill Valley through the Highway 1 exit.
That was when one of the officers, driving an unmarked car signaled for the Ford driver to stop. The motorist, however, failed to oblige, fleeing towards Ethel Avenue, just south of Throckmorton Avenue at a high rate of speed.
As a result of the unsafe speed, the suspect, who was later identified as Robert Lee Walton, 43, of Oakland, lost control of his truck. Police said the vehicle veered into the driveway of a residence and then crashed into the building. No one was harmed in the crash.
Officers apprehended the man and determined that he was intoxicated. Robert Lee Walton was detained at the Marin County Jail, pending settlement of $25,000 bail term.
In addition to DUI charges, the suspect also faces charges of vehicle theft, hit-and-run, driving with property damage, and a list of other crimes.
Anyone involved in a DUI-related accident can consult a drunk driving attorney for representation.
