Russell Santos Identified as Fatal Victim of Riverside County Auto Collision

On Wednesday, July 8th, the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner identified the man who died in an auto collision at an intersection in Riverside, California. The coroner in the updated car accident report named Russell Santos, 56, a city resident, as the fatal victim.

The crash occurred on Tuesday, July 7th, at about 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Barton Street and Krameria Avenue, south of the Orangecrest neighborhood. According to the Riverside Police Department, the collision involved a white 1998 Ford bus and a 2000 Toyota Tundra.

The preliminary investigation uncovered that Santos was driving a Ford south on Barton. At the same time, a 20-year-old male resident of Riverside was driving a Tundra north of the same roadway. The second driver made a left turn onto Krameria, and the act placed him in front of the victim’s car, which just entered the intersection.

The two cars collided, and the impact flipped the Ford on its side, leaving Santos trapped inside. By the time first responders arrived at the scene, the man was unresponsive, and they pronounced him dead at about 11:39 a.m. The Tundra driver sustained moderate injuries and received treatment at the hospital.

The RPD does not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident. They are still investigating the crash and would release any update at a later time. Drivers must continue to approach intersections cautiously and yield to each other when crossing an intersection.
