Sacramento 18-year-old Javier Gonzalez was hit and killed by a semi-truck early Thursday morning on Interstate 5 in Sacramento after his vehicle had become disabled.

Gonzalez had been travelling down I-5 in the pre-dawn hours amidst a light downfall when his Honda Civic had apparently become disabled. According to authorities, Gonzalez’s car was completely motionless and had no functioning lights at the time of impact, which was approximately 5:15 a.m.

The collision with the big rig sent both the passenger vehicle and the semi-truck into the center divider near Consumnes River Boulevard.

California Highway Patrol are investigating the possibility that the Honda had been involved in another crash just prior to the accident involving the commercial vehicle.
