Phucdai Nguyen Identified as Victim of Auto-Motorcycle Accident in Santa Ana

27-year-old Phucdai Nguyen has been identified as the motorcyclist whose life ended in an auto-motorcycle crash in Santa Ana, California. The California Highway Patrol made the identification public on Monday, June 15th.

The CHP in the accident report said the crash happened in Westminster in the 1200-block of North Euclid Street at approximately 8:50 p.m. on Saturday, June 13th. Nguyen was riding his motorcycle southbound on the roadway when he collided with a truck pulling into the street from a driveway.

When the first responders arrived at the scene, they found the victim unresponsive, and the Orange County Fire Authority paramedics pronounced him dead. The unidentified truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.

The Santa Ana Police said that they do not believe alcohol played a role in the accident. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information should contact the local station.

The motorcycle handbook by the California Department of Motor Vehicles states that riders have a better chance of surviving an accident if they wear protective gear and apparel. To this end, a motorcyclist should wear a US-DOT approved helmet with a Federal Motor Vehicle Standard Safety sticker covering the face and eyes.

For protective apparel, wear leather or a long-sleeved jacket with reflective material, long heavy pants, ankle closed-toe boots, and full-fingered leather gloves. In addition to the protective clothing and helmet, riders should maintain the speed limit, take turns slowly, and avoid drinking and riding.
