On Tuesday, June 9th, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office identified the two people who died in a multiple car crash in Santa Maria, California. The updated accident report disclosed the victims’ names as Oscar Campos, 30, and Miguel Preciado Nava, 20.
The crash occurred last week on Highway 166 outside of Santa Maria near Main Street and Black Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, Nava, who was driving a 2004 Nissan on the right dirt shoulder at top speed, began the events that caused the collision.
The man then lost control of the vehicle, causing him to collide head-on with a 2017 Nissan driven by Campos. Nava’s car then went on to strike a third vehicle on its side. The first two drivers sustained fatal wounds and passed away at the scene.
A 3-year-old male passenger in Campos’ vehicle suffered a lacerated spleen and cut to the face, while a 6-year-old girl sustained injuries to her face and head. A third passenger in the Nissan and the driver of the sideswiped vehicle suffered minor injuries and did not require going to the hospital.
