Terrence Coleman Dies in Compton Auto-Bicycle Accident

The  Los Angeles County Sheriff-Coroner said that a bicycle rider died in Compton, California, on Wednesday, September 16th. The accident report disclosed that a vehicle struck Terrence Coleman, 43 while riding his bicycle.

The incident happened at approximately 11:15 p.m. on Rosecrans Avenue, west of Aprilia Avenue. The Los Angeles Police Department said that when officers arrived at the scene, they found that a 2008 Honda Element collided with the bicyclist.

The vehicle’s driver was still at the scene, and the officers located Coleman lying on the roadway unresponsive. The LAPD said that the area where the victim rode his bicycle had little visibility, and the Honda driver changed lanes and struck the man from behind.

Coleman died at the collision site, and the Compton Fire Department confirmed his death. There is no information about a citation at this time. The investigation is ongoing, and the police will release an update at a later time.

When riding a bicycle at night, safety should be a top priority, and riders must ensure they take due care. Stay on the roadway’s bicycle lane, wear a properly fitted bicycle helmet, check to see that the tires are inflated and the brakes are functional.

There should be 1 to 2 inches space between the rider and the top tube for a road bike and 3 to 4 inches for a mountain bike. Adjust the seat’s height to allow a slight bend at the knee when the leg fully extends, and the handlebar height should be at the same level as the seat.
