The services of a car injury lawyer would be required following a two-vehicle crash in Cottonwood, California, that left several people injured. The incident occurred on the morning of Wednesday, May 6.
Reporting the incident, the California Highway Patrol said a car and a tractor-trailer collided at precisely 11:10 a.m., just south of Sunset Hills Drive. No fewer than four people ended up hospitalized with minor to moderate injuries as a result of the crash on Interstate 5 Freeway.
As reported, a 2005 Toyota Corolla, driven by 22-year-old Melquesided Garcia, of Orland, was traveling through the southbound traffic lanes of 5 Freeway. At the same time, a big rig was also on the southbound I-5, with both vehicles sticking to the right lane of travel.
Investigations revealed that Garcia was distracted at the time, and driving at an unsafe speed. It prevented him from sighting the slow-moving big rig traveling directly in front of his vehicle. The Toyota rear-ended the semi tractor-trailer, causing severe damages to the smaller vehicle.
Four commuters were traveling in the Toyota at the time, including the driver, an 18-year-old male identified Joshua Abanathit, Consuelo Puerco, 23, and a 10-month-old baby.
Garcia and his front-seat passenger, Abanathit, suffered only minor injuries, while Puerco, seated in the backseat with the baby, sustained moderate injuries. The baby emerged unscathed.
Medics transported all four commuters to Mercy Medical Center, Redding, to receive appropriate medical aid. No one in the big rig got harmed. The incident remains under investigation.
Injured victims of traffic collisions can seek legal counsel from a car injury lawyer to determine the next line of action.
