Tyler Kanarr Dies in Vans Skatepark, Orange, Freak Accident

The police in Orange, 3 miles from Santa Ana, on Friday, March 6th, confirmed that the person who died in a freak accident at the Vans Skatepark, is Huntington Beach BMX rider, Tyler Kanarr, 25.

According to the coroner, Kanarr passed away from blood loss caused by a deep laceration to his neck. The cause of death was listed as an accident, and there will be no toxicology test.

The police stated that the accident that led to the young man’s death happened on February 25th. The preliminary report showed that Kanarr had struck his BMX bike against a ceiling.

There was apparent damage to a ceiling-level beam where the bike struck it, as well as, broken fluorescent glass on the floor. The deceased’s injuries were consistent with a person who was cut by a light bulb on the neck.

When the Orange Fire Department arrived at the scene, witnesses had wrapped t-shirts around Kanarr’s neck in an attempt to control the bleeding. The paramedics at the scene did all they could for the young man while transporting him to the hospital, but it was not enough.

The deceased lost a tremendous amount of blood and died before getting to the hospital. The police have not been able to uncover what went wrong and what led to the accident.

They are still investigating, and in the meantime, Kanarr’s family have acquired the services of an attorney in case the police find liability on the part of the skatepark. The deceased was famous for doing BMX bike stunts across southern California in his lifetime, and the park closed on Friday to honor him.
