Waste Management Worker, Michael Jodoin, Killed in Grass Valley Accident

A waste management worker died on Monday morning, August 3rd, in a traffic accident outside a fairground in Grass Valley, California. The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Michael Jodoin, a 59-year-old resident of Rough and Ready.

The accident reports showed that at about 8:43 a.m., a black 2020 Dodge Charger, erratically swerved onto the shoulder of McCourtney Road and struck the victim. Jodoin was outside the Nevada County Fairgrounds, cleaning up the roadway.

When paramedics arrived at the collision site, they found the man on the ground, just past Gate 4 of the fairgrounds. They rushed him to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, where he passed away while undergoing treatment.

The NCSO said that the driver and vehicle involved had fled the scene when deputies arrived. However, they later located the female motorist, 47-year-old Amy Hannan, about three miles from the crash site. The Charger got stuck in a ditch on Wladislaw Ellis’s property.

Ellis told the police that the suspect said to him that someone threw a box at her car and shattered the windshield. He added that the explanation didn’t make sense as it would take a safe to make the kind of dent the windshield had.

Things came together when the police arrived and took Hannan into custody on a DUI charge, causing death. The woman is also facing charges of hit-and-run causing death, and manslaughter with negligence.

The sheriff’s office said that the suspect would remain in custody at the Nevada County Jail until she meets her $100,000 bail bond. Any additional witness should contact the NCSO or the California Highway Patrol.
