17-year-old Jessica Rose Luna was killed in a three-vehicle crash on the I-10 Freeway in West Covina just before 11:30 p.m. on October 2, 2012. According to police investigators, a construction project was taking place at the time of the accident, forcing a full freeway closure.

Arianna Maldonado, 21, was travelling at a high rate of speed when she lost control of her car,  failed to yield and crashed into two other vehicles. Maldonado, who caused the accident and her two other passengers suffered moderate injuries and were taken to County USC hospital for treatment. The driver was later arrested for driving under the influence.

Reports indicated that at the time of the crash, Maldonado was on formal probation, previously pleading no-contest to charges of stolen property and burglary. This is a tragic crash and our thoughts and prayers are with Jessica Rose Luna and her family.
