William Chavez-Castro, 24, needs a drunk driving attorney following his arrest by officers of the Bakersfield Police Department. Authorities arrested the suspect on Wednesday, May 20, on suspicion of DUI after a crash that led to the death of a pedestrian in southeast Bakersfield, California.
The officers responded to the 400 block of Union at about 11:50 p.m. for the crash. On arrival at the scene, they found that Castro was driving through a green light at the intersection of Union and 4th Street. At the same time, a pedestrian was crossing against his red walking light.
Castro struck the man, causing him to suffer severe injuries. Medics pronounced the man dead at the scene. The suspect didn’t suffer any injuries from the crash.
The police arrested Castro for driving under the influence and driving without a license. They booked him into Kern County Jail, where he remains in custody. Investigations into the crash remain ongoing.
Bakersfield police are asking that anyone with information about the accident can call at 661-327-7111. They also reported that the crash represented the 11th fatal motor vehicle collision in their jurisdiction in 2020.
It is against the law for drivers to drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Doing this can cause major accidents that could lead to death or significant injuries. Patrol officers are always on the lookout for defaulting drivers who go against traffic laws.
If involved in a DUI crash, one requires a drunk driving attorney to help with the case.
