23-year-old Yuridia Ochoa would need a car accident lawyer following her arrest by the police in San Jose, California, on Tuesday, June 2nd, for an accident in the city. The SJPD said that the suspect struck and injured a pedestrian during a protest.

The auto-pedestrian accident happened in the night near the San Jose City Hall. Ochoa was driving along E. Santa Clara Street between the intersection of 4th and 5th streets. Police Chief Eddie Garcia said in a news briefing that the suspect was doing donuts when she struck the pedestrian and fled the scene in her vehicle.

Officers in the area chased the fleeing motorist, and the pursuit ended after they found her car in a nearby parking garage. Garcia said an officer fired at the woman’s vehicle once after failing to obey the command to leave the automobile and drove backward.

Medics conveyed Ochoa and the injured pedestrian to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Afterward, the SJPD took the suspect into custody and charged her with felony hit-and-run and assault with a deadly weapon on an officer.

The police chief said further investigation disclosed that the woman was on active probation, battery resisting arrest, and driving with a suspended license. The officer who shot her vehicle is on administrative leave, and the SJPD Homicide Unit and Santa Clara District Attorney’s Office are conducting a criminal investigation.

Anyone involved in a hit-and-run accident either as an offender or a victim should contact a car accident lawyer for legal advice and representation.
