Passion Overstreet, 28, was killed in a collision in a car wash Saturday morning.
The accident took place in the Lincoln Square neighborhood on the North Side of Chicago, in the 5400 block of North Damen Avenue. A Volkswagen Golf, driven by an unidentified 65-year-old male, crashed into the car wash after accidentally putting the car into drive instead of reverse while trying to avoid a pedestrian.
Overstreet, a postal worker who was on the job at the time, was pinned between the vehicle and the door of the car wash. She was extricated by emergency personnel and pronounced dead at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston less than an hour later.
The crash occurred at approximately 9:50 a.m. The driver of the Volkswagen stayed at the scene, and was cited for failing to take due care for a pedestrian.
