Police Name Chayenne Fernandez Diaz as Fatal Victim of Marlborough Traffic Crash

The driver who was killed last month in a solo vehicle crash on Interstate 495 north in Marlborough, Massachusetts, has been identified. The Massachusetts State Police, on Monday, April 20, disclosed the deceased driver’s identity as Chayenne Fernandez Diaz, a 37-year-old resident of Syracuse, as stated in the accident reports.

The fatal incident took place on Friday, March 13. Police reported that at about 4:40 pm, a call came in reporting a tragic crash on I-495 north, near Exit 24A in the Marlborough area.

Officers responded to the area immediately and found a wrecked 2014 Toyota Camry embedded in a center divider.

Investigators determined that the vehicle, with Fernandez Diaz as its driver and sole occupant, was traveling northbound on the interstate. Just as he approached the Exit 24A, he crashed his vehicle into the median guardrail attenuator. The impact of the collision caused severe damages to the vehicle, fatally injuring the motorist.

Paramedics responded at the scene a short while later and pronounced Diaz dead at the scene after applying several life-saving measures to resuscitate him. No other casualty was recorded as a result of the crash.

Detectives did not immediately establish what caused the vehicle to strike the median.

Marlborough Firefighters, EMS, and MassDOT also responded at the scene to assist with the onsite investigations and clearing out the wreck, police confirmed in the accident reports.

The case remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police.
