A man turned up dead this week in a traffic collision involving two vehicles in Wapato, Washington. The incident, which calls for the intervention of a car accident lawyer, played out on Monday morning, June 1.
The Washington State patrol deployed troopers to the crash site shortly after 7 a.m., following reports of a traffic collision in West First Avenue and Highway 97. The crash involved two vehicles that collided at the intersection.
Investigators determined that the incident kicked off when a 2000 Acura TL sedan heading west on West First Avenue failed to stop for a red light. Just as the vehicle ventured into the intersection, it collided with a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, operated by 22-year-old Jaime A. Aguayo, of Toppenish. Aguayo’s car was reportedly driving north on Highway 97 at the time.
Antonio C. Macias, 68, of Wapato, who was behind the wheels of the sedan, suffered fatal injuries, and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. The other motorist involved emerged from the crash unscathed.
Officers said Macias was not wearing a seatbelt when the accident happened. Investigators are trying to determine whether intoxication was a contributing factor in the traffic collision. Other possible causes considered in the investigation are speed, distracted driving, an underlying health condition, or a mechanical fault.
In such cases, it is important for the victim’s family to reach out to a car accident lawyer in due time to ensure they are adequately represented.
