Emanuel Schaible, Robert Miller Killed In Head On Wreck Near Moses Lake


State of Washington authorities said a wrong-way driver was one of two men killed Monday afternoon in a head-on wreck on an interstate near Moses Lake.

Emanuel Schaible, 87, of Moses Lake, and Robert Miller, 59, of Auburn, both died at the scene of the crash, which was reported just before 3 p.m. Monday on Interstate 90, according to the Washington State Patrol. No other injuries connected to the wreck were listed on car accident reports available Wednesday.

Troopers said Schaible was driving west in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 at about 2:30 p.m. Monday. At about the same time, Miller was driving a vehicle east in the eastbound lanes of the highway, according to car accident reports.

The two vehicles struck head-on, troopers reported. Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene, but both men died before they could be transported to an area hospital for treatment, car accident reports stated.

Investigators said Schaible was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck. Miller was wearing his seatbelt, car accident reports state. Both men were alone in their vehicles, troopers said.

Authorities worked at the scene for at least two hours. The Washington State Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
