Police: Jon Morgan Killed In Single-Vehicle Wreck Near Washington, D.C.


Authorities said a Woodbridge man was fatally injured late Sunday in a wreck in a suburban part of the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.

Jon R. Morgan, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to a release from the Fairfax County Police Department. No one else was in the vehicle and no other injuries were reported.

Police said Morgan was driving west on Monument Drive near Fair Ridge Drive, in the Fair Lakes area, just after 10:30 p.m. when he lost control of his vehicle. The car then crashed into a pair of steel pillars and a tree, according to authorities.

Emergency responders pronounced Morgan dead from his injuries at the scene. Investigators have not revealed exactly what they think led to the crash, but they do “believe speed was a factor,” according to a press release.
