Troopers: Shane Remp Killed In Spokane County Crash

A man was killed in a two-vehicle crash early Saturday morning in Spokane County, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Shane M. Remp, 32, of Spangle, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck, which occurred at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday on Washington 195, according to authorities. No other injuries were reported by investigators.

Authorities said Remp was driving north Saturday morning when he lost control of his vehicle and drifted across the centerline. He struck a semi-tractor trailer driven by Joseph Reid, 48, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Emergency responders arrived on scene, but Remp was pronounced dead from his injuries before he could be taken to a hospital for treatment. Reid was not injured.

The Washington State Patrol continues to investigate the wreck. Troopers said Reid was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision, but they didn’t know whether Remp was wearing his.

Authorities also did not say whether other factors, such as speed or intoxication, are believed to have contributed to the crash.

A woman who identified herself as Remp’s aunt posted a tribute to her late nephew on social media.

“My heart breaks, but I know there will be big smiles when you meat your dad at the gates of heaven,” the women wrote. “Please give him a big hug from his little sister.”
