Motorcyclist Killed by Truck in Aurora

Early Wednesday morning on Aurora’s Far East Side, 39-year-old Johnny R. Williams of Naperville was killed when the motorcycle he was riding, was hit by a semi-truck.

According to preliminary reports by police, Williams was riding his 2000 Suzuki GX6 southbound on Commons Drive near Gabrielle Lane at a high rate of speed. A 2002 Volvo Tractor Truck driving in the opposite direction by a 49-year-old Aurora man, was turning into a Post Office driveway from the left-hand turn lane.

Williams collided with the back passenger corner of the truck before the truck completed his turn.

Paramedics responded to the accident scene and transported Williams to Rush Copley Medical Center. Williams, who had been wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead a short time after arriving at the medical center.

In this case, the semi-truck driver failed to yield while turning left, and was cited for his failure.

An autopsy at the Kane County Coroner’s office is still pending, however there were no outward indications that drugs or alcohol were involved.
