The Bryan Police Department is probing a fatal crash that occurred early on Saturday at the junction of Briarcrest Drive and 29th Street.
Officers responded to the scene at 4:45 a.m., and four people were transported to CHI St. Joseph Regional Health Center.
One of them, 27-year-old James Ross Ragsdale, was declared dead at the hospital.
Twenty-one-year-old Midland resident Colton Bradley was given medical attention on the scene and then arrested on charges of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault. Ragsdale was a passenger in his vehicle.
Bradley is also accused of driving with a violation of financial responsibility resulting in an accident causing serious injury or death. He was booked into the Brazos County Jail.
Bryan police say Bradley was driving a Camaro and heading north on 29th Street when he ran a red light. A westbound GMC pickup traveling on Briarcrest hit the Camaro on the passenger side.
The impact caused the truck to roll onto its side and Bradley’s vehicle spun out. It hit a Buick that was facing south on East 29th Street.
An unnamed woman who was in the Buick was taken to CHI St. Joseph Hospital with minor injuries. She was treated and released. A man and a woman in the pickup were also taken to the hospital. Reports indicate they had serious injuries but were also treated and released.
The intersection was closed for several hours on Saturday morning while officials carried out their investigations.
Bystanders said Bradley appeared to be intoxicated.
