Clay County Two-Vehicle Collision Leaves Judy K. Porter and Pavlo Diplon Injured

Marshall Blanchard

On Wednesday afternoon, July 8th, two motorists sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a two-vehicle crash in rural Clark County, Illinois. The car accident report disclosed the victims’ names as Judy K. Porter, 65, of Louisville, and Pavlo Diplon, 57, of Branson, Montana.

The Illinois State Police said in a press release that the female motorist was heading south on US Route 45 near Roadrunner Road around 1:45 p.m. when she came upon slowed traffic caused by farm equipment. At the same time, the male driver was operating a box truck on the same roadway.

Diplon tried to pass the traffic in a no-passing zone as Porter attempted to make a left turn. The man then struck the woman’s tan 2013 Ford Edge on the driver’s side. The male victim refused to go to the hospital for treatment, while the medics took the female to an area hospital.

The ISP cited Diplon for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and passing in a no-passing zone. There is currently no additional information.

Failure to reduce speed is a petty offense in Illinois and carries a fine of up to $1, 000. Outside the fine, the offending driver would have points attached to his or her driver’s license. To avoid the two, drivers must drive within the road’s posted and legal speed limit and avoid passing other vehicles unless they have the right of way.
