During the late hours of Sunday, May 31st, a female teenage driver lost her life in a fatal auto collision at an intersection in Troy, Texas. The police in the reports of the car accident identified the deceased as Raiden Garcia, 18.
The Troy Police Department placed the time of the tragic accident around 10:55 p.m. The investigators said it occurred precisely where Loves Boulevard intersects with South Central Avenue.
The preliminary investigation uncovered that Gracia was behind the wheel of a white 2013 Dodge 4 door westbound on Loves. On the other side of the road, a Temple resident identified as 22-year-old Joan Rivera was southbound in the 1200-block of Central in a 2004 Infiniti SUV.
The two women met at the intersection where their cars collided for unknown reasons. The collision’s impact left Garcia with severe wounds that she passed away from at the crash site. Rivera had a female adult and three children in the SUV with her.
The adult and two of the minors sustained non-fatal wounds and the paramedics conveyed them to local medical centers. The police closed the southbound travel lanes of the intersection while they collected evidence and cleared debris from the road. The investigation remains active.
According to the CDC, reports of car accidents show that road traffic accidents involving teenagers occur because of otherwise preventable reasons. They include speeding, inexperience, impairment, and distracted driving. The center advises young people to exercise care and caution while on the road and practice safe road habits.
