An unidentified male cyclist in Elk Grove, California was killed after being struck by two vehicles early Tuesday morning.
The collision occurred at around 6:30 AM, on Laguna Boulevard close to Houssmann Street. According to police, the incident began when a cyclist was hit from behind by a car, flipped over, and was then immediately hit by a second vehicle.
The cause of the crash has not yet been determined. Although it was raining at the time of the incident, the cyclist had lights on his bicycle and was wearing a helmet.
Both drivers stopped at the scene, and authorities say that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
Two lanes of Laguna Boulevard were closed immediately following the collision, and did not reopen for several hours.
