Crystal Corbin, age 27, of Tustin, died in a horrifying Palm Desert head-on wreck around 9:45 p.m. on Friday evening, when her black sedan automobile collided with a red pick-up truck at Country Club and Adams Street near the Bermuda Dunes airport in Riverside County. A baby, strapped into a carseat in the back seat of Corbin’s car, looked on helplessly as the world exploded into twisted metal, watching as Crystal Corbin passed away during the catastrophic accident.
Crystal Corbin and the baby were trapped in the wreckage of the demolished sedan. It is unknown whether Corbin was still alive when first responders arrived at the accident scene, but by the time firefighters were able to extricate her, she was declared dead at the scene.
OTHERS INJURED
Two people who were in the pickup truck were transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The baby reportedly escaped the deadly accident without physical injuries, but left with an image that may haunt the child’s dreams for a lifetime.
AUTHORITIES STILL INVESTIGATING
The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the cause of the deadly motor vehicle accident. Although police at the scene indicated that one of the drivers may have been driving DUI, they refused to say which driver may have been impaired by alcohol before the fatal crash, or which driver may have been at fault in causing the head-on collision that killed Corbin. The identity of the pickup-truck driver has not been released.
WRONGFUL DEATH AND PERSONAL INJURY CLAIMS POSSIBLE
If the pickup truck driver was driving while impaired by alcohol or other substances at the time of the fatal motor vehicle collision that killed Crystal Corbin, her survivors may seek to hold him responsible by way of a wrongful death lawsuit. A wrongful death claim won’t bring back a loved one, but it can help compensate for the financial problems that result from the death, such as funeral expenses, lost future earnings, and the loss of financial support and companionship experienced by immediate family members.
If you have needlessly lost an irreplaceable loved one, or if you or a loved one suffered personal injury, in a motor vehicle accident caused by another driver’s carelessness, you should seek legal advice immediately from an experienced wrongful death personal injury attorney who routinely handles such accident cases. Insurance companies will rush to settle with you in such cases, but the insurance company is not on your side, and what they offer is bottom-dollar. You are likely entitled to much more. Know your rights before you sign anything – talk to a lawyer as soon as possible.
