22-Year Old Miguel Berumen Killed in Rear-End Crash in Bell County

Temple Police have identified the victim of a fatal accident that occured February 8th.

The victim, 22-year-old Miguel Berumen, was driving at an excess speed when he struck another vehicle from behind. He then lost control and was ejected from his vehicle.

The Bell County police responded to what was reported as a single-car accident in Temple Saturday morning. When they arrived, they found two cars along S. General Bruce Drive near South 57th Street. They found a pickup truck and a small car with severe damage to both vehicles. The driver of the one truck, 22-year old Miguel Berumen, was pronounced dead at the scene. Apparently, he was speeding and hit the back of the car in front of him. The other driver reported that Berumen had slammed into the back of their car quite hard. When he hit the car, it forced him to lose control of the car. He was ejected from the car and is believed to have died on impact.

Thankfully, the other driver wasn’t injured in the crash. His name was not released and there has been no update on his condition. The accident was so serious, however, that the police had to shut down the road for several hours so their reconstruction team could work the scene.
