Early Morning Semi-Truck Collision Claims the Life of Jesus Salas Rodriguez

The Texas Department of Public Safety was called to an accident that happened earlier this morning, February 13, around 12:45 a.m.

The accident happened near Loop 340, next to the campus of Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco.

The accident involved two 18-wheeler semi-trucks and a Chevrolet Tahoe.

The first 18-wheeler semi-truck had pulled off onto the shoulder of Interstate 35. It was not long after that they were struck by the second 18-wheeler semi-truck. After striking the first semi-truck, the second semi-truck then struck a Chevrolet Tahoe.

The second semi-truck then burst into flames.

The driver of the truck that caught fire was identified by officials as 34-year-old Jesus Salas Rodriguez of Grand Prairie.

Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of the injuries he sustained in the accident.

The first semi-truck that was stopped on the side of the road was occupied by two people and they were taken to a local hospital for their injuries.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said that they should be okay based on the evaluation performed at the scene. There has been no update as to their condition.

The driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe was not injured in the accident.

The only name that has been released in conjunction with this accident is Rodriguez. None of the others have been disclosed at this time.

The accident is still under investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
