On Saturday, February 15th, at 7:52 p.m., Mona J. Rodriguez, 46, was pronounced dead at the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria County, Illinois. She died from wounds sustained during an accident.
Rodriguez has been at the medical center since a multiple car crash left her with life-threatening injuries. According to the Peoria County Coroner, Jamie Harwood, the deceased received an aggressive course of treatment in the days leading to her death.
The doctors at the medical center did all they could to keep Rodriguez alive, but in the end, the multiple blunt force trauma took her life. The coroner is carrying out a toxicology report to ensure nothing in the drugs the deceased received killed her.
Rodriguez, a Galesburg native, had a fatal car crash on Saturday, February 8th. She was involved in a head-on collision in the 2100-block of W. Farmington Road in West Peoria at 9:04 p.m.
The accident also left the other driver injured. However, the name of the said driver has not been released, and there’s no update on how he or she is faring at the time of this report.
The City of Peoria has recorded a lot of accidents recently. The Peoria Police Department issued a traffic collision alert in January to raise awareness on the spate of fatal crashes in the city.
The PPD advised residents who are involved in non-fatal vehicle crashes to exchange information and report the accident at the police station within 36 hours. All parties involved must be present to file the report, and motorists are advised to drive with care and extreme caution.
